YYunnan In SeasonJourneys across Yunnan

About us

Designed in Yunnan. Led by people who know it.

Yunnan In Seasonis the international-facing travel arm of Zhengfei, a Yunnan-based social enterprise. We create small-group journeys with local guides, hosts, and conservation partners—and look for practical ways tourism can support the places we visit.

Who we are

Yunnan is more than a list of sights.

Zhengfei began with a simple idea: a good journey should be valuable to both the traveler and the place being visited. Our work combines trip design, long-term local relationships, and careful research.

That means fewer generic stops and more context: how a forest works, how village life changes with the season, why wildlife may not appear, and what local people are working to protect.

Local hosts

Meet Yunnan through the people who call it home.

Our partners include rangers, village hosts, makers, conservation workers, and residents with first-hand knowledge. Together we shape the route, stories, pace, safety, and guest experience.

Our trips leave room for questions, changing weather, unhurried meals, and details that disappear on a rushed sightseeing tour.

Mutual benefit

Travel should work for both guest and host.

Guests gain a richer understanding of Yunnan. Local partners earn fairly from their time and knowledge. Communities have more reason to protect what makes each place distinctive. The model only works if everyone benefits.

Routes follow the season, the landscape, and the knowledge of local people.

Local guides and hosts are collaborators, not background staff.

Community commitments stay specific, measurable, and realistic.

We confirm the practical details in writing before asking for payment.

Hometown Classroom

Helping local children see their home with fresh eyes.

Hometown Classroom is a Zhengfei pilot that turns travel research into local learning: forests, wildlife, food, stories, elders, and crafts. The aim is to help children see the value of the place they know best.

It is still at pilot stage. We are starting with small courses, local teachers, and student work—not presenting it as a finished program.

Travel helps fund the pilot

Selected journeys may contribute part of their project margin, beginning with routes such as the moss forest experience.

The team contributes time too

The work includes course design, school coordination, local teachers, and activities children can observe and explain.

Children tell the story of home

Lessons can explore local forests, wildlife, village stories, and what children would choose to share about home.

Honest limits

We won’t promise what nature cannot deliver.

Wildlife sightings depend on the animals, season, and weather. Community projects take time and local agreement. We’ll always distinguish between what is available now, what depends on conditions, and what is still being developed.
