Arrival

Settle into Dali

Arrive at an easy pace, meet your trip leader, and review the week ahead.

Day 1

Dali beyond the old town

Explore fields, Bai villages, courtyards, and the everyday relationship between Cangshan, Erhai, and local life.

Day 2

Owls and the forest after dark

Visit the owl conservation village, then continue to Jingdong for a night walk focused on insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other nocturnal life.

Day 3

Jingdong Botanical Garden

Explore subtropical plants, rare species, seed dispersal, and the relationships that hold a forest together.

Day 4

Wuliang gibbon habitat

Start early with a local guide. Listen for calls, scan the canopy, and observe from a respectful distance.

Day 5

Ailao moss forest

Walk through humid forest, moss, ferns, and epiphytes. Choose a gentler route or a deeper naturalist-led walk.

Day 6

Mojiang market, Hani village, and terraces

End with Mojiang’s market, Hani villages, local farming, and terraces at sunset.
